By default the result is the elapsed duration between the two dates, which does not count the end date: 18 to 20 September is two days. Tick “count both dates” when you want the number of days a range covers, such as how many days you are away for — the same range then reads as three days.
The calculation works on calendar dates only, never on timestamps, so daylight saving changes inside the range cannot shift the answer by a day. Entering the dates the other way round is fine; TimeAbi orders them for you.
